One can find in the market different types of products for cleaning eyeglasses or spectacles. Each of these products has its advantages and its disadvantages, and therefore different indications for use as shown below:
1 – Microfiber cloths.+ Advantages:

- Ease of use.
– Disadvantages:

- They do not really clean dry fingerprints or well adhered stains.
- The dirt removed from the lenses is progressively accumulated inside the microfiber, therefore hindering subsequent cleanings.
- Risk of catching in particles of abrasive dust which would scratch the lenses if the cloth is not stored in a protective carrying pouch or case.
• Indication for use:

- Occasional dry cleaning of tiny smudges or recent fingerprints.
2 – Eyeglass cleaner solutions in a spray bottle.+ Advantages:

- They really clean lenses if the formulation of the liquid is good enough.
– Disadvantages:

- Drips and splashes of liquid during the cleaning.
- For wiping dry the lens, a cloth is needed to absorb the dirt dissolved in the cleaning liquid.
• Indication for use:

- Thorough cleaning of lenses, depending on the quality of the eyeglass cleaner.
3 – VEPLUS lens cleaner solution with a sponge applicator.+ Advantages:

- Its balanced formulation allows for an effective and safe cleaning of all types of lenses and coatings.
- Avoids the drips and splashes of liquid produced by spray products during use.
– Disadvantages:

- As with the other solutions, a cloth is needed for wiping dry the lens.

4 – Eyeglass cleaner solutions in a marker type container with a small sponge on the end.+ Advantages:

- Low manufacturing cost.
– Disadvantages:

- Inconvenience and difficulty of use since the container does not have a metering pump that regulates the amount of fluid in the sponge. The lack of control of the fluid impregnation of the sponge makes the sponge sometimes to be dry and others to produce drippings of liquid due to excess of impregnation.

- Sporadic cleaning of lenses and in case of not having a better product.
5 – Pre-moistened towelettes with a lens cleaning fluid.+ Advantages:

- Simplicity of use.
– Disadvantages:

- It is necessary to rub the lens with the pre-moistened towelette until it dries up for preventing marks of the product itself to appear on the lens surface.
- A high alcohol content (25-50%), which is necessary for the liquid to dry up quickly on the surface of the lens.
- This high alcohol content is powerful enough to slowly damage lens coatings, reducing their durability.
- During the cleaning process the user necessarily touches with his hand the liquid of the towelette, and its high alcohol content degreases the skin of his fingers.
- The cost of each cleaning is much higher than the cost of using a liquid.
